What is PI Insurance?

Professional indemnity insurance is designed, as the name suggests, to indemnify professionals should they be sued for failing to exercise their professional duty of care. To put it another way, professional indemnity insurance is there to protect you from the financial consequences of negligence – anything you did which you shouldn't have done as well as anything you should have done which you didn't. And it includes such eventualities as accidental breach of copyright or intellectual property rights, accidental breach of confidence, inadvertent libel or slander, loss of client documentation, and dishonesty on the part of your employees.
